Leanne Christie is an embellished oil painter from Coventry, now living in Devon.
Her paintings of wild flower meadows and English country gardens are unmistakably vibrant and dazzling. Once seen, never forgotten. Professionally painting for over twenty years, art and design has always been an important part of Leanne's family life. Some of her earliest memories are of watching her mum sketching and painting in her art studio. She grew up surrounded by artwork, canvases, brushes, the smell of turps & oil paint, which formed an interest in art from an early age.
'Painting has always been an integral part of my life. My great nanna was a fine art embroidery artist and her mum was a fine Art painter and could have actually made a good forger. I grew up surrounded by all her art stuff.
I was twelve when she guided me through my first oil painting. The same technique she taught me I still use in my skies and backgrounds . I love to design, create, experiment and I’m passionate about colours especially vibrant transparent colours and anything that shimmers.
My head is full of a million paintings and any chance I get to transfer that on to canvas is heaven… time simply disappears and I find it deeply therapeutic. Especially if I’m dealing with some issue, painting gets it all out of my system and all that energy whether negative or not gets put on canvas. It’s never wasted. In fact I’ve produced my best pieces when I’m dealing with rubbish in my life...’
